SFA News - Awards

AIA Eastern PA Awards - Spillman Farmer Architects projects were cited by this years jury, further information and comments follow.

Kline Sports Center Concept Wins a Special Citation from the AIA of Eastern Pennsylvania

Spillman Farmer Architects concept for the Kline Sports Center at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA can be best described as ambitious and dramatic in its approach. The concept creates a dynamic campus gateway transforming the existing sports center into a marquee building with a bold daytime and nighttime presence.

The jurors, from Kieran Timberlake Architects, acknowledged this project for its unique integration into the campus with the following quotes:

“Looks like this could totally transform the Kline Sports Center

“Views and skylights suggest potential for a richly developed section and a building as topography both inside and out while still presenting a façade”

“Evocative drawings- make me want to see how the executed project can retain the wonderful quality of the concept- tilted planes- contrast with the existing ‘mountain’ landscape of the field house”

TechVentures2 Building Wins a Merit Award from the AIA of Eastern Pennsylvania

Spillman Farmer Architects is pleased to share the news that TechVentures2 receives yet another Award. The Eastern Pennsylvanian AIA has issued a Merit Award for this 47,000 SF expansion project that required our design to harmonize with the existing Ben Franklin Technology Partners TechVentures Facility.

The jurors, from Kieran Timberlake Architects, acknowledged the merits of the project with the following commentary:

“Glazed bar addition - sleek, very layered expression of façade- using shading, curtain wall overhangs, and structure resulting in a one façade building with a strong section”

“Strong integration of sustainability strategy with accommodation of program, image making - an elegant and intelligent design”
